The CHC was recently brought on to a new project that needed communication assets for a research study on self-screening for HPV led by Jessica Calderón-Mora, DrPH (Grant ID: RP240208) funded by the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas

Now that self-collection test for HPV are approved in clinic, there is a need to explore home testing options. The project is a feasibility trail of home self-collection tests for HPV in El Paso, TX. The goal is to compare how response rates for self-collection at home compare to participation rate in Pap testing. The trial has three arms, 1) traditional Pap test collected by a healthcare provider, 2) urine test at home, and 3) vaginal swab at home.

The CHC was asked to support the project by building the brand of Unidos Contra el VPH, providing recruitment materials and templated social media. The CHC also produced the instructions for the two self-collection arms.

Team

The cancer screening campaign was created through a collaboration of the UT Center for Health Communication and Jessica Calderón-Mora, DrPH. The Unidos Contra el VPH team provided insight to start the project and guide the project throughout. On the CHC side, Ellen Shin and I worked together to build the Unidos Contra el VPH brand and appropriate research instructions based on best practices.
